Yancey County Schools is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina providing education to approximately 2,100 students through three Pre-K sites, four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.

In the case of inclement weather, Yancey County Schools notifies parents using Blackboard Connect 5 sent directly to your telephone.
In addition to Blackboard Connect 5, information is sent to local radio and television stations that provide coverage to our district, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as early as possible. While closing or delaying schools may cause an inconvenience, Yancey County School administrators make the safety of our students our number one priority.
