First Grade

1st nine week grading period concepts to be learned will include:
Recognizing the numerals 0 – 25.

Selecting and writing (in the right formation) the correct numeral for a given set.
Filling in the missing number in a series counting from  0 – 9.
Counting the number of items in a set up to 25.
Matching a set of dots with an equal number of items in a given set.
Identifying circles, triangles, squares and rectangles.
Begin calendar activities (names of days/months/days in school/patterns/place value).
Filling in the missing number in a series counting backward from 10 to 0.

Selecting which set has the most(greatest) or fewest(least) items.
Learning how to draw a picture to solve a word problem.
Adding 2 numbers with a sum up to ten.
Filling in two consecutive missing numbers in a series.
Recognizing pennies and using the cents symbol.

Completing a pattern of shapes.

Telling time by the hour.
Recognizing a set that is one more/one less than a given set.
Recognizing a nickel.
Subtracting two numbers with a minuend less than six.
Adding 3 one-digit numbers with sums up to ten.
Demonstrating different ways to show a number.
Comparing/contrasting two objects.
Counting by 5’s and 10’s to 50.

2nd nine week grading period concepts to be learned will include:
Horizontal addition and subtraction of 2 one–digit numbers.
Filling in missing numbers in a number series.
Adding 2 one-digit numbers with sums up to 14.

 Recognizing a dime.
Adding 2 one-digit numbers starting with the larger number.
Subtraction of two numbers with a minuend less than 11.
Learning ordinal numbers—first through fifth.
Recognizing number words zero through ten.
Adding a one-digit and a two-digit number with a sum less than 20.
Selecting the number with the greatest/least value.

Counting up to 59.
Measuring a line segment to the nearest inch.

Filling in a missing process symbol.
Telling time—half past the hour.

 Grouping by 10 when counting.
Addition of 3 one-digit numbers with a sum greater than 10.
Writing addition number sentences.
Recognizing a quarter, dollar symbol and decimal.
Recognizing the days of the week.

3rd nine week grading period concepts to be learned will include:
Writing subtraction number sentences.
Selecting numbers that are greater than/less than a given number.

Recognizing the number words eleven through sixty.

Counting up to 99.

Measuring a line segment to the nearest centimeter.

Reading scales measuring volume, temperature, weight.

Identifying a number series as counting by 1, 5 or 10.

Putting numbers in order from least to greatest.

Writing number sentences from story problems.

Addition of 2 two-digit numbers.

Addition of a two-digit and one-digit number.

Addition of 4 one-digit numbers with a sum less than 20.

Filling in missing addends in a number sentence.

Filling in the denominator in a fraction.

Subtraction involving two-digit numbers.

Filling in the missing numbers, counting by 5 and 10.

4th nine week grading period concepts to be learned will include:
Obtaining numerical information from a story problem.

Recognizing any number word under 100.

Adding 4 one-digit numbers with a sum greater than 19.

Filling in a missing subtrahend in a number sentence
