Reading is "Sew" Much Fun!

At the end of each nine weeks of school, Burnsville Elementary School has a reading awards program.  The requirement in first grade for the children to receive a reading award is based upon each child's daily participation in class reading activities, as well as regularly completing his/her reading homework and returning at least 70% completed "Book Treasure" response forms.

In addition to the quarterly reading awards, my children participate in a class reading incentive program called "Books for Books". In this program, students keep track of books that they read and/or have read to them.  When a child has 250 minutes of reading time recorded on a reading log, he or she will receive a free book! Children can earn as many free books as they wish.  At the end of the school year, the five students with the most minutes read will receive special reading awards.

Thank you for encouraging your child to read, read, and read!
