In March of 2003, Clearmont Elementary School was awarded the IMPACT Grant.  The grant totaled $450,000 each year for three years.  It was made possible through a federal grant known as Enhancing Education through Technology, part of No Child Left Behind.   As a result of the grant various types of technology hardware and software have been introduced into the curriculum.  The school has wireless Internet connectivity.  Each classroom has a data projector, interactive whiteboards, document cameras, a printer, and a digital camera.  Laptops were purchased for school and home use through a student checkout program.

IMPACT is not just about technology and equipment.  It is a document promotes collaboration between the classroom teacher, the media coordinator, and the technology facilitator.  The three form a teaching team that plans together, designing project based lessons. These lessons mesh the core curriculum together using technology and the information skills curriculum. The IMPACT model supports the use of technology to prepare our students for a digital age.
