Grade 6*
Grade 7& 8 **
*Identified
students in grade 6 keep their identification in the AIG program even
if they are not included in the Advanced
Communication Skills and Mathematics Class.
The 6th grade advanced classes consist of those students
whose previous 2 years' EOG scores
average high enough to be placed in the advanced classes.
These students are rank ordered as to
their averages.
** Identified students in grades 7 and 8 are allowed to self-select
into the advanced classes for each grade and subject.
These students keep their AIG
identification even though they elect to not take the advanced classes.
**Advanced Mathematics Classes are as follows:
Grade7------Pre Algebra
Grade8------Algebra 1
(Students must have taken
Pre-Algebra
before requesting
Algebra 1)
Advanced
Commnication Skills Classes include more rigor in the teaching of the
subject matter. The AIG teacher works
with the Advanced Communication Skills classes one block period
per week at each grade level. Grades are given to the regular
Communication Skills teachers for the work completed in the AIG block
time.
