Language Arts / Communications Skills The students will:
-read and comprehend text designed for first grade
-read to follow directions, answer questions, and locate details
-expand sight vocabulary
-continue to recognize and high frequency words (91 total)
-use basic punctuation and capitalization
-use phonics skills to sound out blends; count syllables in a word; change sounds to produce new words
-write and recognize sentences that ask
-write three or more sentences on the same topic
-spell most sight words correctly
-use logical phonetic spelling of unfamiliar words
-improve handwriting by forming letters correctly and using appropriate spacing between letters and words
-substitute beginning and final sounds to create new words
Math The students will:
-use ordinal numbers first through tenth
-use calendar language appropriately, e.g. seasons and months of the year today, yesterday, tomorrow, next week, last month
-use efficient strategies to count the number of objects in a set
-estimate quantities fewer than or equal to 100
-create, model, and solve problems that use fair shares between two or three
-connect the model, number word, and number using a variety of representations
-read and write numbers
-build understand of place value (ones, tens)
-recognize equivalence in sets and numbers 1-99
-continue to use Venn diagrams to illustrate similarities and differences in two sets
-describe events as certain impossible, more likely or less likely to occur
-collect, organize, describe and display data using line plots
-continue to identify, build, and name cylinders, cones rectangular prisms, squares, parallelograms, trapezoids, and hexagons
-develop fluency with single digit addition and corresponding
differences using strategies such as modeling, composing quantities,

-tell time to the hour and half-hour

Science
-exhibit

Social Studies -study about our county, state, and country
