The school's attendance policy allows the student to miss nine (9) days a semester and still receive credit for a class. If an absence is excused, the student may make up the work that they missed that day. The student handbook lists acceptable reasons for excused absences. The purpose of the attendance policy is two-fold. First, it helps students form positive attendance habits, which will make the transition from school to work much easier for them. Second, it helps keep students from falling behind in their class work. Since students must use a computer for their assignments in this class, they may not be able to take make-up work home. Students can schedule time with me during their lunch or after school to complete make-up work if they have an absence excuse slip from the attendance office showing that the absence is excused. In my class, students have three (3) days after they are absent to bring an excuse slip and complete their make-up work. If a student must miss more than one day due to a serious illness or death in the family, please contact me and we will work together to set up a schedule for the make-up work. |
