SAT Prep Program
Four Sessions are Available

These preparation classes are offered at UNCA's campus in Asheville from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays for three consecutive weeks.  Tuition is $275.00.

Session I:  March 13 - March 29, 2006
Session II:  April 17 - May 3, 2006
Session III:  May 15 - May 31, 2006
Session IV:  September 25 - October 11, 2006

A late registration fee of $10.00 will be charged for registratioins received after the dates below:

Session I:  After March 6, 2006
Session II:  After April 10, 2006
Session III:  After May 8, 2006
Session IV:  After September 18, 2006

The following list of programs and activities is especially related to the college planning process for those students who want to attend college after high school.

PSAT
The Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test provides practice for the SAT and students receive valuable feedback about their verbal, math, and writing skills. Students also receive college information and can enter national competition for scholarships. The test is administered once a year in October.

SAT 
The Scholastic Aptitude Test is one of the tests required by many four year colleges for admission purposes. It is given seven times a year and students can get registration materials in the Guidance Office or register online. Our school code is 340525

PLAN
This is the practice test for the ACT or American College Testing program; one of two college admission tests students can take for college acceptance.

ACT
The American College Testing program is one of two tests students can choose to take for college admission purposes. It is given six times a year and students can get registration materials from the Guidance Office.

Governors School
This is a summer residential program for academically or intellectually gifted high school students. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with two exceptions made for rising juniors in the performing/visual arts area, is located on two campuses: Governors School West at Salem College in Winston Salem and Governors School East at Meredith College in Raleigh. The nomination period begins in late September.

Legislators School for Youth Leadership Development
This is a summer residential program lasting for two weeks. Eligibility is limited to rising 10th and 11th graders, who demonstrate positive leadership potential, and who have not been served by the gifted and talented program. The nomination period is at the beginning of spring semester.

Summer Ventures in Science and Math
This is a cost-free, state-funded program for academically talented students who may pursue careers based in science and mathematics. The program brings rising juniors and seniors together in residential settings for four weeks of intensive study.
