This center will serve eighteen (18) preschoolers during the school year.

As an accommodation to you, this center will open at 7:30 a.m. and close at 3:45 p.m.  Therefore, we expect all children to be gone by 3:45 p.m.  A late fee will be charged for anyone who picks up his or her child after 3:45.  Your child needs to be here no later than 8:30am to take advantage of the services offered at the center.

A fee of $70.00 per week will be charged.  This fee is due in advance either weekly or monthly.  Please pay your accounts on Monday mornings only.  Money will not be accepted any other time.  Pay by check if possible.  Checks should be made payable to the Yancey County Board of Education. Due to lack of time for bookkeeping, we ask for your cooperation to make this job easier.

Parents are required to complete medical forms for their children.  The medical form must be turned in within two weeks from the date of admission to the center.  Children should not be brought to the center when they are sick (see attached guidelines) If your child becomes ill while at the center, the parents will be notified immediately and arrangements should be made to pick them up.

No child shall be administered any drug or medication without specific instructions from a Physician and written instructions (signed) from parents.  See Administering Medication Guidelines.

Any over-the-counter medication that is not age-appropriate must be accompanied by written instructions from a doctor or nurse.

Please notify a staff member if your daytime or emergency numbers change.  If your child is injured or becomes ill and immediate medical attention is necessary, emergency assistance will be called for.  You or someone at your emergency number will be called.  Refer to our “Emergency Medical Procedures” attachment for more detailed information.

Parents shall be responsible for their child’s transportation to and from the center.  No child shall be released to anyone other than parents, unless previous arrangements have been made by the parents in person.  Please write a note explaining that a particular person (s) may pick up your child without notification.  For example, two teachers who work at the same school may pick up each other’s children. State law does not permit preschool children to ride school buses.

Your child must be escorted into the center each morning by a parent or responsible adult who will stay until Mrs. McCurry, Mrs. Donnahoo, or Mrs. Tschudy is aware that the child has arrived. A parent of an adult designated by the parent should come into the preschool room to pick children up and be certain that Mrs. McCurry, Mrs. Donnahoo, or Mrs. Tschudy knows the child is leaving.

Minor children should not be sent to the center to leave or pick up a child.

Please, escort children by the hand to and from the preschool because there is a lot of traffic in the parking lot daily.

Children must be signed in and out of the center daily.  The sign-out sheet is located on top of the cubby next to the restroom door.
