Yancey County Schools provides transportation for students. We maintain and supervise 39 buses (37 regular and 2 Special Education buses), which travel 2,362 miles per day.

In 1986, the DPI set in motion a plan for all LEA's in North Carolina to install TIMS, a program for routing and maintaining bus information.

Since September 1, 1992 all LEA's have implemented the TIMS System.
