High school graduation is a major milestone in the lives of young adults. For many seniors, it represents the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, as well as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. While some may choose to continue their education at a four-year university, others may pursue technical or trade schools, enlist in the military, or enter the workforce. To celebrate the diverse paths taken by graduating seniors, Mountain Heritage High School hosted a Senior Breakfast and Signing Day on May 2, 2025.

MHHS seniors celebrated their post-high school plans with a delicious Pig & Grits breakfast sponsored by Advent Health and served by the Board of Education. Seniors received gift cards from the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council, t-shirts from Sibelco, first aid kits from Advent Health, and goodies from Mayland Community College and U.S. Army. After breakfast, students signed a pledge committing to work hard and diligently in whichever path they choose after graduation.

For those who have chosen to attend college, students wore clothing or hats representing the college or university they will be attending, and many schools displayed banners or other decorations to celebrate their students' success.

Those entering the military or workforce wore clothing or hats representing their future career field and some shared information about the specific branch, job or company they will be enlisting with or working for. YCS celebrates the hard work and dedication these students have demonstrated in preparing for their careers and starting their adult lives.

It is important to recognize all graduates and their post-high school plans. The goal of Yancey County Schools is not just to prepare students for college but to prepare every student to be successful in life. We are proud of each and every one of our graduates and wish them the very best in their future endeavors!
