During February's Love the Bus Month, Transportation staff delivered cinnamon rolls to our bus drivers and monitors to show appreciation for the incredible job they do. But the gratitude for our drivers never stops! Wishing you all a very happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Day 💛 THANK YOU for going the extra mile, getting our students to and from school safely!

Dear Yancey County Schools Parents,
Notes were discovered this morning at East Yancey Middle School stating “I have a bomb.” We followed safety procedures and evacuated students as the building was searched. In the meantime, the Yancey County Sheriff’s Office has located two possible suspects. The investigation is ongoing, however, at this time we feel as if this incident is a hoax. We will be returning students to East Yancey Middle School and resuming the school day.

These miracle workers are the backbone of our schools and Central Office. They are likely the first face you see as you enter the building but they are also working behind the scenes to solve problems and keep things running smoothly every single day. We appreciate each one of you!

Healthcare students from Mountain Heritage High School joined Healthcare students from Mitchell High School for a hands-on learning experience at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital. This inaugural experience provided a small group of students the opportunity to participate, with plans to expand and include more students and events in future visits.
Students explored a variety of healthcare careers through hospital tours and interactive simulations. They visited the ER to learn about intubation and mechanical chest compressions, observed the OR to understand surgical procedures and team roles, and worked with a patient simulator to check vital signs. In imaging, they reviewed real X-rays and practiced using a mobile imaging machine. They also participated in simulations related to speech and occupational therapy, gaining insight into real-life challenges.
Thank you to the entire team at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital, and especially HR Manager Colby Boston, for organizing and providing this meaningful opportunity!

Today is School Librarian Appreciation Day!

Happy Teacher Assistant's Day! We have awesome TA's and we appreciate the love and support they give to our teachers and students.

While assistance will be available on the day of kindergarten registration for those who need help completing the online process, we strongly encourage families to register in advance. Completing registration early will help save time and ensure a smoother experience on April 15th. Please bring your application confirmation number on registration day.
On each elementary school website, you will see "26-27 Kinder Registration" at the top of the homepage. Clicking on that link will take you to the Kindergarten Registration page. Follow the instructions to complete the online registration portion.
Please note: You will still need to bring the required documents on April 15th in order to finish the registration process.

Good afternoon!
