Due to the Winter Weather Advisory of accumulating snow, freezing temperatures and high winds, Yancey County Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Monday, February 23, 2026.

Our principals and teachers will work with students and families if their WiFi is not in service at home due to the weather.

School Bus Safety Red Lights Flashing: Stop at least 20 feet behind or ahead of the bus and remain stopped until lights stop flashing and the arm is retracted. Divided Highways: If there is a median or physical barrier separating traffic, only cars traveling in the same direction as the bus must stop. Yellow Lights: Flashing yellow lights mean the bus is preparing to stop; slow down and prepare to stop. No Passing: Never pass a stopped school bus with red lights flashing, as it is illegal and dangerous.
