Yancey County Schools is nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina providing education to approximately 2,400 students through six elementary schools, two middle schools, one high school, and a K-8 alternative program.

In the case of inclement weather, Yancey County Schools notifies parents using Blackboard Connect 5 sent directly to your telephone.
In addition to Blackboard Connect 5, information is sent to local radio and television stations that provide coverage to our district as early as possible. While closing or delaying schools may cause an inconvenience, Yancey County School administrators make the safety of our students number one priority.
