YANCEY COUNTY SCHOOLS BOARD MEMBERS
Edwin Fortner, Board Chairman
I am excited to be part of this board because I believe it is an opportunity to give back to a school system that has given so much to ensure the success of all the student body. I believe this can be attributed to children, parents, teachers, administrators, and board having one common goal - the success of the youth of Yancey County. I thank you for the opportunity you have given me to serve on the board and I covet your prayers and support. The success of this board depends on all participating and being involved in a school system that desires to excel above all obstacles to the betterment of our community. Together we will make a difference.
Wade Dahlberg, Board Vice Chairman
As a lifelong resident of Yancey County and a product of the Yancey County School System, I am humbled to be given the opportunity to serve the students, staff and community of this wonderful place we call home. Yancey County is blessed to have so many excellent parents, students, teachers, support staff and administrators. I am committed to working tirelessly alongside fellow board members to ensure our school system continues to be one of the best in the state. With complete transparency and community involvement we will ensure our students and staff have a safe, nurturing, and fulfilling educational experience. I greatly appreciate your prayers and support as we embark on this journey.
Jeanne Tyner - Educating our children and young adults tops the list of our community’s most important work. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. I am so thankful for public schools and for devoted staff, parents, and volunteers who strive to improve the quality of life for our students and our community. Doing what is best must always be the goal.
Leaders become more effective when they listen, study, and then make decisions. Respectful relationships and shared decision-making inspire good faith and confidence in the process. I am committed to working together with parents, students, schools, our Board, and the community to establish an honored trust, to champion the best of the past, and to create sound, innovative educational environments for the future.
My years as a teacher, assistant principal, central office administrator, community volunteer, parent, and now grandparent provide varied perspectives that help in understanding the whole picture. Our children, families, and school employees deserve our support and the very best educational settings and opportunities we can provide. I am optimistic about what we can accomplish when we work together for the good of students, families, and staff. Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve in this important work.
I would like to thank everyone for trusting me with this responsiblity. I am very proud and excited to be a member of this board. I know every member of this board desires the absolute best for our school system. An open and honest approach with students, parents, and the hard-working faculty will make our school system a wonderful place for all.
